ShahRukh Khan‘s next movie Pathaan, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, is on track to become the first Indian movie to be released in ICE (Immersive Cinema Experience) format, According to a report from The Indian Express. The movie, which is being produced and directed by Aditya Chopra, is scheduled to release in theatres on January 25, 2023.
The ICE theatre concept contains side panels that work together with the main screen to provide the uninitiated peripheral vision. By using contrasting colors and motion in the background, it enhances immersion. The Indian Express reported on this, and Yash Raj Films’ vice president of distribution, Rohan Malhotra, shared in a statement, the format made its premiere in India with the screening of Avatar: The Way of Water at two PVR Cinema locations that are still in operation in Delhi, National Capital Region. Being the first to adopt and use new technology has always been in our YRF’s DNA.
Internationally, the ICE format was used for the production of blockbusters including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Batman, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Top Gun: Maverick, and Mobius.
Besides that, Shah Rukh is making a comeback to film after a four-year absence. Although the actor appeared in Brahmastra Part One: Shiva and Laal Singh Chaddha in two appearances this year, Pathaan will be his first full length action movie since 2018’s Zero.
In terms of projects, the actor has two more movies scheduled for the next year, including directors Raj Kumar Hirani’s Dunki and Atlee’s Jawan.
