The Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction for 2023 is set to be one of the most exciting in the tournament’s history [1]. With a total of 80 players available for selection, this year’s auction promises to be a thrilling affair with teams spending big money to secure their desired players.
The 2023 IPL Auction will see several high-profile players in the mix, such as Ben Stokes, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Hardik Pandya. International stars like Chris Gayle and David Warner are also expected to be part of the fray.
The IPL auction will be conducted in two parts—the Pre-Auction Player List, and the Auction Player List. The Pre-Auction Player List contains a total of 80 players, while the Auction Player List contains the players who were retained by the teams ahead of the IPL auction.
The Pre-Auction Player List contains some of the most sought-after players in the tournament, including the likes of Chris Gayle, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Hardik Pandya. International stars like David Warner and Ben Stokes are also expected to be part of the list. The list also includes some of the most promising names in the domestic circuit, such as Devdutt Padikkal, Shubman Gill, and Prithvi Shaw.
The Auction Player List will contain the names of the players who were retained by their respective teams ahead of the IPL auction. Some of the big names in the list include KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and Ravindra Jadeja. Apart from these stars, there are several other players who have been retained by the teams, such as Krunal Pandya, Ishan Kishan, and Washington Sundar.
The IPL auction will be conducted on Sunday, January 26, 2023. This year, the teams will have a total of Rs 85 crore to spend in the auction. The Adani Group made the highest bid for the Ahmedabad squad [2], spending Rs 1289 crore [2]. Indiawin Sports Private Limited (a Reliance group company) was the second-highest bidder [2], with a total of Rs 813 crore.
