  1. A Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Planning, Remote Sensing and GIS, Geoinformatics, Geo-information Science and Earth Observation, Geomatics, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Science and Engineering, or an equivalent degree from a recognised foreign university, with a minimum grade of 55 percent (or an equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is used).
  2. In addition to meeting the requirements listed above, the candidate must have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) administered by the University Grants Commission or the CSIR, or a test similar to it that has been accredited by the UGC, such as SLET/SET, or they must be in possession of or have received a Ph. D. in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph. D. Degree), Regulations, and any subsequent changes, where applicable, are exempt from NET/SLET/SET:
    As long as the following requirements are met, candidates who registered for the Ph.D. programme before July 11, 2009, shall be subject to the provisions of the Institution’s then-current Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations awarding the degree and shall be exempt from the NET/SLET/SET requirement for recruitment and appointment of “Assistant Professor.”

The candidate’s doctoral degree was conferred in the conventional manner;
At least two outside reviewers have evaluated the doctoral thesis;
a candidate’s open Ph.D. viva voce has been held;

The candidate has two research papers from their doctoral work that have been published, at least one of which is in a refereed journal;

The candidate has given at least two presentations at conferences or seminars sponsored, funded, or supported by the UGC, ICSSR, CSIR, or any organisation of a like nature based on his or her doctoral work.

The Registrar or the Dean (Academic Affairs) of the relevant University must certify that these requirements have been met.
A similar test accredited by the UGC, such as SLET/SET, or a test similar to NET/SLET/SET that is not administered by the UGC, such as the CSIR, shall also not be required for such Masters Programs in those disciplines.
OR B. The Ph.D. degree was earned from a foreign university or institution that, at any given time, was ranked among the top 500 worldwide by any of the following three organisations: Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the Times Higher Education (THE), or the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

 preferred qualifications and experience: Candidates with at least a year of work, research, teaching, or teaching experience in the field of disaster management or disaster studies will be given preference. It would be preferable if candidates had publications in the field and teaching experience in disaster management programmes. Applications are encouraged from candidates in the cross-disciplinary fields of disaster management, geography, planning, remote sensing, etc. Writing research proposals of the highest calibre to obtain funding on the national and international levels will be an asset.
